The band of adventurers meet up Low Town’s Market Square. Dala Mo’or (of Silverpines) decides to speak with her gossipy aunt Mina Tirnith about Mari. She heads to her aunt’s home on Row Lane. Dala is greeted at the door by her aunt’s aged manservant. He leads her to her aunt, who is taking her early afternoon tea.
Dala learns from Mina that there is a lot of talk about a series of mysterious murders in the Alchemist Guild. The murders started just over a year ago and has left the guild in turmoil and paranoia. She learns that Mari does work for the Houses of Lorde and Stevens as a maid. Dala convinces her aunt to provide a letter for Lady Zinka Stevens. A letter that would allow Dala to pay the royal lady a visit.
Meanwhile, Maxwell Boon and Filruel Mizzrym are searching for a new place to stay in Low Town. In the warehouse district they come across Kaz the Fishmonger, who is renting a space above his shop. The shop is used to butcher fish and bottle their organs for medicinal according to well accepted folklore. The space rents for 30GP a month. And only requires a 15GP deposit. It has metal shutters on the windows and a heavy reinforced door. It had been previously used as a secure warehouse. There are three rooms to the layout, but no peep hole in the door the party notices. Maxwell agrees to take the space and receives 4 keys for the door. Filruel becomes a bit obsessed by the rat holes in the space.
There is a heavy knock on the door. When Maxwell opens it he is assaulted by a massive caliban barbarian. The caliban pushes him inside and a brief struggle occurs between them. The barbarian introduces himself as Rayc. A former traveling companion of E’tchay Mockttor. He had been trying to find his friend but instead found his corpse on the gallows in Cutthroat Square. He tracked the party down to this part of town. He wants to know who killed E’tchay and joins the party in hopes they will lead him to the responsible party.
They lock up and head back to Low Town’s Market Square to meet up with Dala. Dala is introduced to Rayc. And they discuss what she found out at her aunt’s place. The party is undecided on which lead or suspicion to follow up.
On the way back to their apartment they realize they are being followed by three heavily cloaked figures. One is standing tall while the other two are hunched over. The party heads into a twisting alley and set an ambush at a turn in the small alley. They can see shadows stop at the mouth of the alley and then move on. When Filruel looks around the corner he realizes one of the hunched figures is standing in the alley. It begins to move towards him. Filruel ducks back behind the corner. The party ambush the figure. It is surrounded by a ghastly stench that nearly overpowers those who engage the creature up close. The party manages to easily overcome the horror and its claws.
Under the cloak they find an animated corpse with filed teeth and filthy claws that can rend flesh. It is covered in mysterious chemical burns. A strange brand is discovered on its forehead. And its tongue has a stitched parchment usually found in the mouths of Resurrected.
Before midnight the party sneak back to the gallows to recover It’chy’s body for proper burial. At the gallows the party is ambushed by more of the chemically animated undead. It’chy himself being one of the creatures now. The party overcomes the creatures and take It’chy’s body. He is given a burial with rites on the low tide muck lands that serve as the city’s pauper graveyard.
